What editing services do you offer?
Editing services are included in all writing packages.
If you require separate editing services for a piece of writing you’re working on, I offer conceptual editing, copyediting, and proofreading at any point during the timeline of your project.
What do your writing consultations include?
Whether you have already begun or need help getting started, with over 20 years of experience as a published writer, I can guide your project to completion. I provide clear and honest feedback to enhance your ideas and free up your time to write confidently and concisely.
What technical writing services do you currently offer?
Web copy, instructional/guide writing, business and marketing copy, research projects, and more.
What is the payment process?
A deposit of 25% is due upon project launch after a customized contract is signed.
Installations can be paid at intervals throughout the project, with the final payment due upon completion. Writing fees billed monthly at a pre-determined rate may apply, depending on your project.
One hour writing consultations for your writing projects are available at your convenience.
Editing rates can be customized to suit the specific needs of your writing project.
How long will my project take?
Book-length projects can take the course of a year or more, as they may involve multiple sets of interviews, ongoing revisions, and a self-publishing or traditional publishing process. Projects under 20,000 words that do not require publication may take 2-3 months to complete.
Will I retain full rights to my proprietary information?
Yes, clients retain full ownership of their memoir and all copyrights. An NDA (Nondisclosure Agreement) is signed by the writer prior to the project launch to ensure confidentiality.
How will my memoir be published?
How you publish your memoir is up to you.
Options include: self-publishing in ebook and/or hard copy format, or submission for traditional publishing. I will guide you through both options and work with you to achieve your desired goals.
How many revisions can I make?
Your project will begin with an outline agreed upon by both the writer and the client. During the writing process, there will be three formal opportunities for revisions. Feedback and suggestions are welcomed and encouraged throughout the course of your project. Further revisions can be provided upon request.
How will my personal information be handled?
While it can be a new experience to share personal information with your writer, my intention is to treat your precious memories with the utmost sensitivity. The opportunity to be part of your life story is a great honor.
What should I include in my memoir?
Your memoir may include milestones and achievements, hardships, silver linings, personal growth, family history, and anything you feel is key to your story. Everyone remembers things differently and not every detail of the past needs to be recalled to write a great book, however revisiting the past can unlock hidden memories. As the client, you are entirely in control of what you would like to share.
Could my memoir expose me to legal risks related to defamation?
Our stories naturally overlap with the stories of others. I ensure your sensitive material is handled with decorum to mitigate personal and legal concerns. Other protective writing tools include fact-checking, using anonymization, and adding a disclaimer. Additional legal consultation is welcome at any point.
Do you have a writing portfolio available for viewing?
As my clients’ writing projects remain confidential, I’m unable to post writing samples online, however I can provide writing samples upon request.
